Due to the weather forecast, there will be NO softball practice in Atkinson tonight. They will plan to practice Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. for 8 & U and 10 & U and 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for 12 & U and 16 & U instead. This week will be Wednesday and Thursday.

From the Nebraska State Activities Association: The NSAA Membership voted 31 to 20 FOR adding Bowling as a sanctioned NSAA activity. The NSAA Membership voted 28 to 23 AGAINST adding Girls Wrestling as a sanctioned NSAA activity. The NSAA Board of Directors voted 7 to 1 to add Girls Wrestling as an EMERGING sport. Governor Offers COVID-19 Update on NET’s May 14 Town Hall Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts will update Nebraskans about the spread of COVID-19 and its potential effect on high school sports during the upcoming fall season during a one-hour NET News town hall meeting airing at 8:30 p.m. CT, Thursday, May 14, on NET, Nebraska’s PBS & NPR Stations. Nebraskans are encouraged to pose questions to Gov. Ricketts, as well as the program’s other two guests – Dr. M. Salman Ashraf, an infectious disease expert and medical director of the Nebraska Infection Control Assessment and Promotion Program and Jay Bellar, executive director of the Nebraska School Activities Association. “Speaking of Nebraska: COVID-19 Town Hall with Governor Ricketts” will be carried on television and radio by NET. It will also be streamed on the NET website, the NET Nebraska app and on Facebook. The program will include subtitles in Spanish. Viewers and listeners may ask questions during the town hall program by calling 1-800-676-5446 or 402-472-1212. Both before and during the broadcast, questions can be submitted online at netNebraska.org/coronavirus. They can also be emailed to news@netNebraska.org or submitted to the Facebook pages for NET Nebraska, NET News or NET Radio. The Stuart Community will be honoring the 2020 graduating class tonight, Tuesday, May 12 at 7:00 p.m. with a Senior Class Parade down Main Street. At 7:25 there will be a brief presentation by the Post Office. Line the street, wave, decorate your car, honor your horn to honor the seniors. Remember social distancing!

Weather permitting, work will begin May 8 on US-20, in O’Neill, from 3rd Street to the railroad tracks at the east edge of O’Neill, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation. Scodeller Construction of Wixom, Mich., have the $536,000 contract. Work includes concrete pavement repair. Single lane traffic will be maintained with flaggers and a pilot vehicle. Anticipated completion is two weeks. Motorists are asked to drive cautiously near construction zones, to expect delays and buckle up.
