In what possibly was his last letter home Fireman First Class Louis James Tushla, U.S. Navy wrote to his former employer Edward Dvorak in early December 1941 his plans to come home that next summer.
Tushla did come home. Not that summer and not the way he had planned.
On Thursday, July 15 the remains of the fallen soldier came into Atkinson with a hero's welcome.
