By the end of the week of January 15th, North Central District Health Department (NCDHD) will move to COVID-19 Vaccination Phase1B in Antelope, Brown, Boyd, Cherry, Holt, Keya Paha, Knox, Pierce, and Rock Counties. As Phase 1A partners wrap up vaccinations this week, NCDHD will commence vaccinating those 75 years and older on Thursday, January 14, 2021. Individuals 75 years or older who reside in the district may register for a COVID-19 vaccine at ncdhd.ne.gov. Once registered, individuals will be called to schedule an appointment at the next available COVID-19 vaccine clinic. If assistance in needed to register do not call NCDHD; rather, enlist the aid of a friend or family member, call your local library, or call your nearest senior center. NCDHD partnered with several libraries and senior centers in the district to guide this population through the registration process. Registration is required, walk-ins will be turned away. NCDHD recognizes federal partners added the 65 years and older and those with underlying health conditions categories into Phase 1B. NCDHD respectfully requests this population wait until February to sign up on the statewide registry. NCDHD will release media for the statewide registry once updated are available.

A funeral service for Gary Aten, age 82 of Atkinson will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Atkinson. Visitation will be held on Monday January 11, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at Seger Funeral Home and then on Tuesday from 12:00 noon until the service time at the United Methodist Church. North Central District Health Department will host a drive-through influenza shot clinic on Wednesday, December 9, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the back of the NCDHD office in O’Neill. To access the clinic, enter through the east ally entrance and remain in your vehicle. To fast track the clinic process, complete the vaccination form online prior to arrival and have a copy of your insurance card with you. If unable to complete the vaccination form prior to the clinic NCDHD will have hard copies available and will be making copies of insurance cards as needed.

A funeral service for Maxine Hamilton, age 89, of O’Neill, Neb. will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Biglin’s Mortuary in O’Neill. Father Bernard Starman will officiate. A funeral service for Johanna E. Faler, age 79 of Hagerstown, Maryland will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Atkinson. Father Joseph Sund will officiate. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 1 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service, at Seger Funeral Home in Atkinson. A funeral service for Shannon Lea (Steinhauser) Sis, age 56, of Axtell, Neb. will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Axtell. Rev. Gale Dorn will officiate. The service will be streamed on the church’s Facebook page. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Axtell. North Central District Health Department will be extending public influenza vaccine clinics in O’Neill through the month of November. Clinics will be held behind the NCDHD building as a drive-through style clinic. To access the clinic, enter through the east ally entrance and remain in your vehicle. To fast track the clinic process, complete the vaccination form online prior to arrival and have a copy of your insurance card with you. If unable to complete vaccination form prior to the clinic NCDHD will have hard copies available and will be making copies of insurance cards as needed. Listen to local media for any clinic cancellations or postponements. Clinics will be held on the following dates and times, weather permitting: • Wednesday, November 18th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. • Tuesday, November 24th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

North Central District Health Department has expanded its COVID-19 testing capacities to include a 15-minute rapid test, in addition to the gold standard PCR test already offered. The rapid test will be offered only to individuals who are currently exhibiting symptoms associated with COVID. All testing is offered free of charge at the below locations: • O’Neill – Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the north parking lot of the O’Neill Armory. The armory is located at the corner of 4th and Hynes Ave. • Bassett - Tuesdays from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Rock County Fair Grounds. • Pre-registration for testing at www.testnebraska.com is highly encouraged, but not required. • The last patient will be scheduled 15 minutes before the scheduled end of the clinic.

Pastor Wayne Owens will officiate. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 17 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Atkinson, with graveside rites by Farley-Tushla Legion Post No. 86 of Atkinson.
