Tri County Northeast participated in the rescheduled Hartington-Newcastle Invite on Thursday.

The meet was postponed from Tuesday due to weather conditions, and it affected several teams participating in the meet, plus opened the door for two extra teams to participate.

With the FFA convention in full swing, the Wolfpack squad was approximately 50% in attendance and some of the events were highly competitive. The Wolfpack did manage to get some good performances on the day though.

Senior, Shantel Miller, had one of her best days, gaining three medals. Miller, who stands 5’ tall gained two 3rd place medals of her three in the 100 and 300 hurdles.

Jackson Belt led the boys’ team, earning 2nd place in the 300 hurdles and a third place in the high jump.

Next action for the Wolfpack squads will be Thursday, April 11th at the Homer Invitational. The squads will still not be at full strength, but they will be ready to compete, nonetheless.

COACHES COMMENTS:

“The athletes did what they could today. A few of the schools had their full compliment of athletes. We had to pick and choose where we could be most successful not having our full compliment of athletes. The coaches were pleased with the outcomes we saw. There were a few opportunities that we let get away. There are things that will be addressed and improved upon as we move forward. The coaching staff appreciates the competitive effort we are receiving at this point of the season. Keep working athletes!”
