The Plainview Chamber of Commerce’s Klown Festival will kick off with events starting on June 6, and running through June 8 in and around the community.

This year’s festival will start at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, June 6 with the Butch Anderson Memorial Bull ride on south 9th street. This year’s bull ride will again feature Double SS Bull Company, LLC for the stock and riders from across the Midwest with a $4,500 added purse for any winning riders.

Tickets are available for presale with a free drink ticket at the City Office, Doerr Insurance, Plainview Family Pharmacy, Keystone Bar, the Social Center and Healing Hands – and cost more at the gate the day of the event.

At 9 p.m. the Plainview Firemen will be holding their 121st annual dance, featuring the band Switch-Bak in a street dance outside Keystone Bar until 1 a.m.

A free outdoor movie showing of “Moana 2” will be hosted at the Band Shell Park for families to attend as well.

Saturday, June 7 the festival begins in earnest with the Library Foundation and Rec Board Triathlon at 8 a.m. and 5K walk/run – all starting from the Plainview Pool.

There will be a sand volleyball tournament starting at 9 a.m. in the Band Shell Park, and the Chamber will have a beer garden at the park as well.

The Plainview Historical Museum will be open all day, food trucks will be around the park, inflatables for kids will be in the park from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and there will be “early bird” baseball and softball tournaments at the ball fields hosted by the Plainview Ball Backers all day.

The FFA’s annual pedal pull qualifying event will be held at 10 a.m., and the Plainview All-Class Reunion event will open the school at 10 a.m. for tours, and the banquet at noon.

The Klown Doll Museum will be open in the afternoon, and there will be a special presentation at the Plainview Library about a recently featured artist who painted scenes from in and around Plainview at 2 p.m.

CHI’s Foundation will open their ice cream social at 2 p.m. at the band shell park, and there will be fire truck rides from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. as well.

The Klown Band and Dance Bright dancers will take to the stage for various performances around 5 p.m., along with the announcement of the annual “Outstanding awards” by the Chamber of Commerce.

There will be a cornhole tournament at the band shell park from 5:30 p.m. until the final game, and around 9:45 p.m. the Premier Pyrotechnics Fireworks show will begin.

Sunday, June 8 will start at 7:30 a.m. with the Fire & Rescue Pancake Feed, ecumenical church in the park at 10:30, more baseball, and parade registration starting at 12:45 at the City offices.

The Grand Parade will start at 1:30 p.m. – leaving from the west end of Locust Ave and traveling downtown, parade drivers are encouraged to head east and then north to the Plainview Manor so residents can view the floats as well.

Both museums will be open most of the afternoon.

The Plainview Police Department will be holding another bicycle rodeo at 3 p.m. at the Band Shell park, and there will be free swimming at the Plainview Pool from 1p.m. to 8 p.m. that day.
