Choat elected Lt. Gov. at Boys State event in Lincoln

Choat Elected Lieutenant Governor of 2023 Cornhusker Boys State

Reagan Choat, son of Dean and Nancy Choat of Plainview, attended Cornhusker Boys State from June 4-10, 2023.

American Legion Boys State is among the most respected and selective educational programs of government instruction for high school students.

Choat was sponsored by the Plainview American Legion. Boys State offers hand-on, realistic experience in civic responsibility and the privileges and duties of American citizenship.
Many activities, leadership seminars, and educational experiences took place during the week on the University of NE-Lincoln campus and in the Nebraska State Capitol. Boys State is equally divided into two fictitious political parties. Each party meets to construct a platform from scratch and candidates campaign for state, county, and local offices.

This process is driven entirely by the students who elect their party leadership and debate their platforms.

Reagan Choat ran for Lieutenant Governor and was chosen as a representative to the Legislature.

The Boys State Unicameral Legislature held its Friday session in the historic Warner Chambers at the State Capitol. The experience is a highlight of their week, holding this session in a grand setting.

At the end of the week the election results declared Choat as the 2023 Lieutenant Governor of the 2023 Cornhusker Boys State.
