The Plainview Pirate track teams competed in the Lewis & Clark Conference invitational last Saturday, April 29 in Laurel, taking second-place with both the boys and girls teams.

The Lady Pirates had 81 team points to take second-place, trailing the leader, Ponca, by just nine event points overall. Homer was third for the women’s team with 71, Wakefield was fourth with 65 and Tri-County Northeast was fifth with 63.

The Pirate team took second place with 71 points, trailing first-place Ponca that scored 105. Wakefield was third with 70.5, Tri-County Northeast was fourth with 54.5 and Laurel rounded out the top five with 50 points.

The Pirates will take to the field on May 4 at the Winside invite, and then will prepare for the District Tournament on May 11, which will be hosted in Plainview. Other towns in the Class D-4 District are Boyd County, Chambers-Wheeler Central, Cody-Kilgore, Creighton, Elgin Public/Pope John, Neligh-Oakdale, Niobrara/Verdigre, Santee, St. Mary’s and Stuart.
