From CCT Transit
Cedar County Transit Director Nikki Pinkelman has resigned from her position following reported disagreements with county commissioners.
Her departure marks the end of a highly impactful tenure during which she played a central role in developing and expanding the county’s public transit system.
Pinkelman is widely credited with transforming Cedar County Transit into a reliable and well-regarded service for residents. Under her leadership, the department saw significant growth in ridership, improved operational efficiency, and expanded accessibility for individuals across the county.
Community members and colleagues alike have noted her commitment to ensuring dependable transportation options, particularly for seniors, individuals with disabilities, and those in rural areas.
Stepping into the role is Assistant Manager Ashley Gowery, who has worked closely with Pinkelman and has been involved in the system’s recent successes. Gowery expressed optimism about continuing the strong foundation that has been built.
“I hope to carry forward the level of service and dedication that Nikki established,” Gowery said. “Cedar County Transit has become an essential resource for our community, and maintaining that standard is my top priority.”
County officials have also expressed confidence in Gowery’s ability to lead the department through this transition. Her familiarity with daily operations and long-term goals is expected to provide continuity for both staff and riders.
As Cedar County Transit enters this new chapter, many in the community are reflecting on Pinkelman’s lasting contributions while looking ahead to continued stability and service under Gowery’s leadership
