The Crofton Speech team had their very first meet of the year at Hartington on Saturday Jan. 31. The Warriors had 8 medalists with 6 from the varsity and another 2 from JV.
Varsity medalists included senior Sophia Wortmann who got 4th in Entertainment Finals. senior Katie Neuharth, S.Wortmann, junior Natalee Steffen, sophomores Fred Dennis, Kaden Arens who all got 5th in OID Finals. Sophomore Cecilia Wortmann got 1st in Extemporaneous Honors. Neuharth got 1st in Informative Honors. C.Wortmann got 4th in POI Honors. Senior Alexa Suing got 6th in Persuade Honors.
The JV medalists were freshman Collyns Stout (5th in Persuasive) along with freshman Emma Birger and freshman Kaydence Jansen (6th in Duet).
Despite the cold weather, Head Coach Shiann Hansen said that their first meet on Saturday was successful, “This was our first meet of the season, so it was a bit of a wake up call for all of us, but also fueled us to do what we need to for next weekend. We were excited for all the events that made it to finals and next in finals!”
