“Art is not an easy thing to master in a generation that craves instant gratification,” said Crofton Art teacher, Mrs. Hannah Blomstedt, at the Mid-State Conference Art Show in Wayne on Tuesday April 1.

Crofton Art students took home a long list of awards from the event that was judged by Carolyn Albracht from Wayne State College.

Crofton submitted 74 pieces of art: 25 from Junior High, and 49 from High School students. Junior high students (Grades 7-8-9) earned multiple ribbons for their artwork. “It’s really exciting to see young artists experiment with so many different techniques and materials,” said Ms. Blomstedt. Blue ribbons (1st place) were awarded to Addison Hames, Madison Nelson, Ella LaCroix, Charlee Hughes-McGargill, and Makenah Steffen.

For the high school students (Grades 10-11-12), Crofton had several standout artists.

Ellie Foxhoven and Katie Neuharth led the way, each earning purple ribbons (Champion) for their artwork. Foxhoven earned a purple ribbon for her photograph “Looking to the Future,” while Neuharth brought home three purple ribbons for her painting “The Reflection of Reality” and her drawings “Better Together” and “Thinking to Myself."
