On Tuesday, September 15, North Central District Health Department (NCDHD) was made aware of 18 additional cases in the district. Eight cases in the district, through case investigations, have been determined to be due from community spread: 4 in Knox, 1 in Brown, 1 in Pierce, 1 in Antelope, and 1 in Cherry. Nine cases in the district, through case investigations, have been determined to be due from close contacts with confirmed positive COVID-19 cases: 2 in Knox, 2 in Brown, 1 in Pierce, 2 in Holt, 1 in Antelope, and 1 in Cherry. One case in Knox County is still under investigation. NCDHD has reported 60 recoveries throughout the district since the last recovery reporting on Tuesday, September 8th. These include: 11 in Rock, 10 in Knox, 1 in Antelope, 4 in Holt, 13 in Cherry, 19 in Pierce, and 2 in Brown. A funeral service for David Jon Denker, age 58, of Nacora, Neb. will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emerson. NCDHD COVID-19 and Risk Dial Updates On Wednesday, September 9, North Central District Health Department (NCDHD) was made aware of 14 additional cases in the district. Seven cases in the district, through case investigations, have been determined to be due from community spread: 2 in Holt, 1 in Pierce, 1 in Antelope, 2 in Rock, and 1 in Knox counties. Six cases in the district, through case investigations, have been determined to be due from close contacts with confirmed positive COVID-19 cases: 3 in Pierce and 3 in Rock. One new case is currently under investigation in Holt County. NCDHD has reported four additional deaths in the district. Two deaths in Cherry County, a male in his 80s and a female in her 80s. Additionally, two deaths in Pierce County, both females in their 80s. NCDHD would like to remind the district that each Wednesday by the end of business day the NCDHD district risk dial is updated. COVID-19 Cases and Notification of Additional Reporting North Central District Health Department (NCDHD) has been made aware of 11 additional cases in the district today. One case in Cherry County, four cases in Rock County, and one case in Holt County, through case investigation, have been determined to be from close contact with confirmed COVID-19 positive cases. One case in Cherry County, two cases in Antelope County, and two cases in Rock County, through case investigation, have been determined to be from community spread. NCDHD would also like to inform the district that we have been aware of information on 23 additional cases reported from the Santee Sioux Nation. These cases are now included in the dashboard and the Knox County case counts. The dashboard and case count information will be updated with active cases and recoveries as that information becomes available. Case investigations and contact tracing is complete resulting in identifying that some cases are due to community spread and some due to close contacts with other positive cases. NCDHD would like to note that none of these cases were identified through the recent testing event. NCDHD updates the district risk dial each Wednesday by end of business day. Five Positive COVD-19 Cases, One Recovery, and First COVID-19 Related Death North Central District Health Department (NCDHD) was made aware of five additional cases and one recovery to report. Four of the cases are in Knox County, two of these cases are result from direct contact with positive cases and two cases are result from community spread. All close contacts have been identified and contacted. Community spread means that the source from the spread of the illness is unknown. Community spread is present throughout the district and residents are encouraged to continue to practice social distancing, wear a mask when social distancing may be difficult, and practice good hand hygiene. NCDHD was also made aware of one additional recovery for Knox County. Additionally, North Central District Health Department is saddened to inform the district the fifth case in reporting today is also the first COVID-19 related death in the district. Through case investigation it was determined the case was an Antelope County male in his 70s and was reported to have underlying health conditions. Case count update as of June 24, 2020 at 3:00 p.m.: 45 Total Cases (TC), 30 Recoveries (R), and 1 Death (D). Reminder that Total Case (TC) numbers are represented first, and of those total cases the number of Recovered (R) persons is represented second, and total case related Deaths (D) is represented third. Application Process Temporarily Paused for Livestock Producer Small Business Stabilization Grants, Application Deadline Extended to July 1 The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) has announced a brief pause on the application process for Small Business Stabilization Grants for Livestock Producers. Applications will not be accepted during this pause, which will provide DED necessary time to validate all applicants in a timely manner and avoid potential delays to serving grantees. Applications will be accepted once again starting Monday, June 22, at 8:00 a.m. CST. To account for the scheduled delay, the application deadline has been extended from June 26 to July 1, 2020, at 5:00 p.m. CST. Visit https://getnebraskagrowing.nebraska.gov/ in advance of Monday’s application re-opening for instructions on how to apply for a Small Business Stabilization Livestock Producer Grant. From the Nebraska State Activities Association: The NSAA Membership voted 31 to 20 FOR adding Bowling as a sanctioned NSAA activity. The NSAA Membership voted 28 to 23 AGAINST adding Girls Wrestling as a sanctioned NSAA activity. The NSAA Board of Directors voted 7 to 1 to add Girls Wrestling as an EMERGING sport. Governor Offers COVID-19 Update on NET’s May 14 Town Hall Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts will update Nebraskans about the spread of COVID-19 and its potential effect on high school sports during the upcoming fall season during a one-hour NET News town hall meeting airing at 8:30 p.m. CT, Thursday, May 14, on NET, Nebraska’s PBS & NPR Stations. Nebraskans are encouraged to pose questions to Gov. Ricketts, as well as the program’s other two guests – Dr. M. Salman Ashraf, an infectious disease expert and medical director of the Nebraska Infection Control Assessment and Promotion Program and Jay Bellar, executive director of the Nebraska School Activities Association. “Speaking of Nebraska: COVID-19 Town Hall with Governor Ricketts” will be carried on television and radio by NET. Scodeller Construction of Wixom, Mich., have the $536,000 contract. Work includes concrete pavement repair. Single lane traffic will be maintained with flaggers and a pilot vehicle. Anticipated completion is two weeks. Motorists are asked to drive cautiously near construction zones, to expect delays and buckle up.
